The harlequin was the comedian in courtly societies and his task was to act as a fool and to hold up the mirror to the ladies and gentlemen at court, among other things. The court jester had to be able to change from one role to the other like a chameleon changed its color. He traveled from court to court to entertain the respective audience. Lisa Parker creates the harlequin staff with a skull.
